Overview
Global Security Systems is a systems integrator, service provider and manufacturer of the ALERT FM, an FM radio-based alert and messaging system, and My SimBook, a mobile social network for FM broadcasters.
History
In 1985, the future founders of Global Security Systems became involved with the technology called numeric MBS protocol, predecessor to Radio Data System (RDS) and Radio Broadcast Data System (RBDS). The GSS founders played a very important role in lobbying to have RBDS become an approved and accepted standard in the United States. In 1993, the RBDS standard was introduced as a means of using the subcarrier to broadcast specific information that permits a receiver to tune stations.
Since 1993, other accomplishments include: working for RDS and RBDS approval in the U.S., manufacturing the only RBDS FM data receiver in the U.S., installation and testing of the FM system in more than 20 foreign markets, installation of an 11-State system on the Pacific Coast of the U.S., and negotiating and signing of the world’s first exclusive arrangement between an equipment manufacturer and a wireless communications carrier.
Today, ALERT FM and My Simbook incorporate RDS technology to send digital information using conventional FM radio infrastructure to a targeted audience.
ALERT FM is a personal alert and messaging system that enables state and local government and private sector officials to create and send digital alerts and messages. Potential messages include tornado warnings, homeland security notices, hurricane evacuation instructions, utility notices, plant or school closings, employee notifications and traffic alerts. First responders, school officials and citizens can receive these alerts and messages based on geographic or organizational groupings through specially designed ALERT FM receivers or any device equipped with a standard FM chip. The reliability and redundancy of ALERT FM lies in its use of a pre-existing network of towers, which in turn provides overlapping coverage of an area.
My Simbook is a mobile social network that enables broadcasters to interact with listeners by synchronizing their radio broadcasts and advertisements with mobile devices. The system allows broadcasters and local businesses to participate in a variety of mobile marketing such mobile coupons and mobile advertisements.

Founded in 2002, GSS has its headquarters in Jackson, Mississippi, with offices in Florida, Louisiana, Washington, D.C. and Sweden.
Management Team
Robert L. Adams- President and CEO - Director
Robert L. Adams is the president and chief executive officer of Global Security Systems, LLC (GSS), a position he has held since the company’s inception in 2003. Adams has worked in the FM data business for several decades and is considered a pioneer in the industry. When he founded Adcom Communications in 1985, the country was still operating under the Mutual Broadcasting System (MBS) protocol. Adams played a critical role in lobbying for the replacement of MBS with the Radio Broadcasting Data System (RBDS). Additionally, he was instrumental in the original manufacturing of RBDS FM data receivers in the U.S. and for negotiating the world’s first exclusive arrangement between a manufacturer and a wireless communications carrier.
R. Matthew Straeb- Executive Vice President
R. Matthew Straeb brings over 25 years of industry experience in FM broadcasting, mobile data applications, radio frequency and digital design engineering to Global Security Systems, LLC (GSS). Prior to joining GSS, Straeb served as vice president of marketing and product management for da Vinci Systems and also as president of Orad Inc., a subsidiary of Orad Hi-Tec Systems. His primary responsibilities at GSS are developing the nationwide GSSNet footprint, sales and securing strategic partnerships.
Paul Burt- Vice President of Broadcast Operations
Paul Burt is the former director of engineering and information technology for Clear Channel Radio of New Orleans, bringing to Global Security Systems, more than 25 years experience in broadcast engineering. His primary role is to build and maintain GSSNet, the FM radio network infrastructure.
Jim Lowery- General Manager
Jim Lowery is the General Manager for Global Security Systems, LLC (GSS). He brings more than 12 years of experience in large company sales and business strategy, venture capital and small technology startups to the company. In six years with Eastman Ventures and the Mississippi Technology Alliance, he invested in and assisted more than 100 emerging technology companies. He also organized and still operates the Mississippi Angel Network. Lowery is primarily responsible for sales and day-to-day operations of GSS, based in Jackson, Miss.

Mike Moreno- Chairman and CEO of Dynamic Industries
Mr. Moreno has established numerous thriving companies along the US Gulf Coast. These companies include Dynamic Industries, Inc., ARC Industries, L.L.C., Southern Steel & Supply LLC, and ISG (Industrial Solutions Group LLC) which were merged to form Moreno Group LLC. Mr. Moreno currently serves as Chairman and CEO of Moreno Group LLC. Moreno Group is one of the largest privately held fabrication companies serving the energy industry in the US. In 2008, Mr. Moreno founded Dynamic Offshore Resources and with the acquisition of SPN Resources became a leading independent oil and gas production company operating on the Gulf of Mexico shelf. Over the years, Mr. Moreno founded, grew, and sold Moreno & Associates, a leading safety consulting company for the offshore oil & gas industry, Pure Water Solutions, an equipment rental company for the offshore oil & gas industry, and Dynamic Cranes, an offshore crane rental company. In addition to his energy service background, Mr. Moreno is an active investor in real estate, technology companies, and oil & gas production.
In addition to serving on the Board of Directors for Moreno Group, Our Lady of Lourdes Foundation, and the Louisiana Open Foundation, Mr. Moreno donates his time to various local community and humanitarian organizations. In 2001, Mr. Moreno was inducted into the Acadiana Business Hall of Fame as the 2001 Rising Young Business Leader
William W. Rucks, IV
William W. Rucks, IV has served as our director since 2005. Mr. Rucks has been a private venture capitalist-investor since September 1996. He has served as a director of OMNI Energy Services, Inc. since 1997. He served as president and vice chairman of Ocean Energy, Inc., formerly Flores & Rucks, Inc., from July 1995 until September 1996 and as its president and chief executive officer from its inception in 1992 until July 1995. From 1985 to 1992, Mr. Rucks served as president of FloRuxco, Inc. Before then, Mr. Rucks worked as petroleum landman with Union Oil Company of California in its Southwest Louisiana District, serving as area land manager from 1981 to 1984.
Kevin Moody
Kevin Moody has served since 1986 as president, director and a member of the Executive Committee of The Moody Company, a Louisiana company with holdings in Newspapers, Restaurants, Industrial Services and Investment Management. Mr. Moody currently serves as a Director on the Boards of Dynamic Industries, Inc., the Financial Corporation of Louisiana, and the Community Foundation of Louisiana. Mr. Moody received sa B.S. degree in accounting from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1980and received his M.B.A. from Vanderbilt University in 1982. |
